First husbands
Annajane truly believes she is over her ex-husband, Mason. They've been divorced for four years, she's engaged to a terrific new guy, and she's ready to leave the small North Carolina town where she and Mason had so much history. She is so over Mason that she has absolutely no problem attending his wedding. But when fate intervenes and the wedding is called to a halt as the bride is walking down the aisle, Annajane begins to realize that maybe this happened for a reason. And maybe, just maybe, she wants Mason back...
Second chances
But there are secrets afoot in this small Southern town, and soon Annajane discovers that change can bring out the worst in people-even her own friends and neighbors-and uncover family scandals. Happiness could be hers for the taking...and the life she once had with Mason could be in her future. But first Annajane must find out what she's really made of, and what really matters most.

I checked out this book mostly on a whim while looking for something light and fluffy to read.  Well, this is definitely a light, fluffy read - but not in any good way.

I'm not even going to bother with my usual lowdown description of the book.  Let's just dive in.

What Did I like About this Book:

1. Sophie Bayless - Sophie is Mason's daughter/sister.  Confused?   Yeah - me too.  So, Mason's father Glenn Bayless had an affair with a woman from Florida that resulted in Sophie.  However, both Glenn and Sophie's mom found themselves unable to care for Sophie, so Mason adopted her and raised her as his own daughter.   She is the best part of the whole book - she is a typical 5 year old - sweet, precocious, and honest to boot.  She is calls things like they are and totally gets what a conniving bitch Celia is from the get-go.

What I Didn't Like About This Book:

1. The Character Development - where was it?!  None of the characters appeared to have any growth or change or epiphany's throughout the entire novel.  They all did things throughout the novel that were the same as what they would have done at the beginning.

2. The story was predictable and easy to figure out.  We knew from the very first page that Annajane and Mason were still in love with each other. We knew they were going to get back together.  It was obvious that Celia was going to try and ruin everything with the company, and that she didn't care about anyone but herself.  There was no surprise - there were no twists or shocking plot moments. There was not enough suspense built into this story to really make me care about what happened.

3. The actual writing was mediocre at best.  I could have handled the subpar story had the actual writing been better.

While this may be a good light hearted beach read for some people, I wouldn't recommend it even in a pinch.
