Bout of Books - Day 2 Update

Hey y'all!  Happy Wednesday!  We are deep into BOB 20 (YEAH) and I am still having SO MUCH FUN!

Here's my update for Tuesday:

Books Started: 3 (Because I got so into my zombie book, then at bed, I was in the mood to read something not about zombies.)
Books Finished: 0
Pages Read Tuesday: 93
Total Pages Read:  139

And the Books:
My DNF...

Currently Reading:

And Now: Tuesdays Challenge!

Synopsis Rewrite

For this challenge, all you have to do is rewrite the synopsis of a book from another character's point of view. Make it their story instead. If you post on social media, be sure to use #synopsisrewritebob20 to share.

My synopsis rewrite is for the book Shadow and Bone, by Leigh Bardugo:

The Darkling has never known real love.  He has spent his life in pursuit of pure power.  The endless gestures of the grisha never fail to bore him.

Then he meets the Sun Summoner.   No other grisha has been a threat to him.  Until now.  The Darkling will stop at nothing to make sure that his power remains intact despite assaults from newcomers and allies alike.

Will The Darkling be able to survive the rise of the most powerful grisha he's ever known?

Bout of Books 20 - Sign up Post

HEY READERS!  Today is the start of Bout of Books 20, and even though I had the intention of signing up LAST WEEK, I am signing up today, at the very. last. minute!  So, this is my official declaration of doing Bout of Books 20 this week.

Need to know what Bout of Books is?!  Okay:

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 21st and runs through Sunday, August 27th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 20 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

I did take some time to write out a list of the books I (hope and want) to read this week.  They Are:

Ambitious?  Maybe - but what's the point of a readathon if you can't pick out way to many books and read them all in one week?!  If you've never done Bout of Books before - what are you waiting for?! Go read!

And Now: A Bout of Books Challenge!

Challenges

Character Dating Profile

Create a dating profile for your favourite literary character. Where are they from? What are they looking for? What are their likes and dislikes?

This is a tough challenge!  After all, how do you pick just ONE FAVORITE LITERARY CHARACTER?!  If I Have To Pick, then here is my dating profile for a classic character: Jean Valjean.  If anyone deserves a little love - he does!

Name: Jean Valjean
Occupation: Ex-Convict and Current Mayor of Montreuil-sur-Mer
Willing to Relocate: Yes.  Relocation will allow me to distance myself from jealous former jailer.... ahem lover.
Children: 1 Daughter
Likes: Bread, saving women and children from destitution and inn-keepers, scented candles, long walks down dark alley-ways.
Dislikes: Heavy horse carts, small confined spaces, ships.

I am looking for a woman who loves to move frequently and possibly change her name from time to time.  Must love children, and be willing to assist in keeping my daughter safe.  Bakers welcome.

Bout of Books - Day 2 Update

Wednesday came in with a bang ~ I tried to sleep in a little, but it didn't work!  That's okay though, right - because then - more time to read!

Anyway, here's my update for Tuesday!

Books Started: 2
Books Finished: 0

Pages Read on Tuesday: 31
Total Pages Read: 108

I am now in the midst of the following two books:

Now: here's the SUPER FUN part (Not just regular read-a-thon fun, but SUPER FUN!) The Share your Shelfie Challenge!  This challenge works in the following way:

Share a picture of your books/shelves/nightstand/e-library/wherever you keep your books on Twitter, Instagram, or on this post. Use the hashtags #boutofbooks and #shelfie4boutofbooks

So, I had to pick which shelf I wanted to share (I have three bookshelves, and some photos of the books on my kindle....)  but I couldn't pick just one: so here are the two bookshelves in my living room: (They look a little chaotic.... but that's okay.)

Now friends, let's play a game!  It's time for "If you like this, try this!"

If you like Divergent and other YA Dystopian fantasy, try Legend, by Marie Lu.  (Trust me, you will fall in love with Day and June!)

If you like books about magic, try Freeks, by Amanda Hocking.  (It was just released a couple days ago.  I read it as an ARC, and it reminded me of AHS: Freak Show.)

Bout of Books - Day 2 Recap

Welcome to my recap post for Day 2 of the Bout of Books 18 readathon!  Here's what happened on Tuesday!

Books Started: 2

Books Finished: 0
Pages Read Tuesday: 51
Pages Read Total: 196

I'm not nearly as far into my reading as I would like to be, but it's only Wednesday!  I don't work today, so it's the perfect day to sit around and just read!

And now, the part of the post I know you've all been waiting for: the Books To Movie Challenge!

The Mara Dyer Trilogy, by Michelle Hodkin:

NEEDS TO BE A MOVIE SERIES

My Perfect Cast Would Be:
(I only picked a handful of characters that I either really loved, or who I could really see the actors for!)

Mara Dyer would be played by Naomi Scott.  Can you imagine a better Mara?  She has the innocent quality that Mara should have, with the look that says "I can and will kick your ass if I have to.)

Daniel, Mara's brother, would be played by Avan Jogia (Isn't he just amazing?) I think Avan Jogia could pull off the smart ass attitude and the caring about his family that Daniel does so well.

Mara's smart ass friend Jamie, could be a great role for Trevor Jackson.  He has the look to pull of the crazy attitude that Jamie has while still saying, "Hey, it's cool, I love my friends!"

Mrs. Dyer, Mara's mom, would be played by the talented Sakeena Jaffrey, from House of Cards.  If you've read the Mara Dyer trilogy, you'll know why she's a perfect fit!

And Mara's dad, who I imagine is kind of one of those dad's that everyone loves to check out, would be played by Christian Bale.  (Tell me she could have a better dad - I dare you!)

Jude, the bad boy and psycho ex-boyfriend of Mara's, literally could not be played by a better actor than Kenton Duty. (And I'll go to the mats on that one.)

Anyway, today marks the FIRST DAY of Bout of Books 18!  I'm so excited.  (Fair warning: This post will be filled with an excessive amount of exclamation points.  You've been warned!!!)

Let me tell you what I hope to get read this week:

I started today with

Other books I plan to read throughout the week:
